Com Ed

ComEd offers flexible payment options and financial assistance for customers in need. Flexible payment options are offered through April 1, 2014. In addition, ComEd offers financial assistance to those that qualify under several programs including its Residential Special Hardship Program, which offers up to $1,500 once every 3 years for eligible residential customers with household incomes up to 250% of the federal poverty level ($58,875 for a family of 4). Through April 14, 2014, customers are NOT required to provide additional hardship documentation to qualify.

FISH is able to provide limited financial assistance for utility bills (except phone), housing, and car repairs.

DuPage Housing Authority
DHA provides rental assistance vouchers through a program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Housing Choice Vouchers allow income eligible families and individuals, elderly persons and persons with disabilities to live in decent affordable rental units.

HCS Family Services(Only for residents of Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills, Darien, Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Westmont, or Willowbrook).
HCS Family Services offers short-term rent and mortgage assistance  due to an unexpected financial crisis. Services offered are rental assistance, security deposit assistance and supportive services to help obtain and maintain housing.

Homeless Prevention Partnership
The DuPage County Continuum of Care Homeless Prevention Program (HPP) consists of a number of community agencies that receive homeless prevention funds. These funds provide one-time assistance to avoid eviction and homelessness of individuals or families experiencing a short-term economic crisis. The funds can also be used to assist homeless families in securing housing.

Assists low-income households by offsetting the rising cost of home energy through direct financial assistance, energy counseling, outreach and education.

Nicor Gas Sharing Program
Nicor Gas Sharing Program provides one-time annual grants of $400-$450, depending on age, to qualified residential customers. To receive a grant, individuals must meet the income guidelines and apply in person at their local Salvation Army or other agency office.

People’s Resource Center
People's Resource Center (PRC) offers emergency rent assistance to qualifying clients who are unable to pay rent or make a security deposit due to a temporary financial crisis.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Holy Angels Conference
(For residents living on the southwest side of Aurora - the boundaries are the river on the east, Rt. 88 on the north, Orchard Road on the west and Plum Street on the South).  St. Vincent de Paul Society of Holy Angels Conference is a volunteer organization that provides assistance with basic rental and utility necessities. (No assistance is provided for cable bills.)

(For residents living on the northwest side of Aurora).  St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Rita of Cascia Conference gives guidance and possible assistance to help with emergency needs such as rent or utility bills. Other needs may also be accommodated. (Not able to provide security deposits.)

Veterans Assistance Commission of Kane County
The Commission provides services and financial aid to military veterans and their families who reside in Kane County and qualify for and need assistance. Emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, food and personal needs is available to qualifying veterans not receiving any other form of government aid.
