14 Reasons to Give
- The average income of a CHAD household is less than $23,000 – could you and your family live on that in DuPage County?
- Over 35% of DuPage County renters pay more than 30% of their income for rent and are considered ‘rent burdened’. CHAD’s rates are below market rates and CHAD is one of the very few resources in DuPage County offering quality affordable housing for low to moderate income persons…families can get food from food pantries and clothing from second-hand stores, but affordable housing is more difficult to find.
- Quality affordable housing allows people with limited means to work and live in the same community, allowing more DuPage businesses to attract and keep employees– many CHAD residents work in hospitals, retail shops, and other customer service jobs.
- 1000 residents in our county have housing opportunities through CHAD – more funding allows CHAD to help even more future residents.
- Quality affordable housing for a family helps their children have better attendance at school, and a greater chance for academic success – over 70% of CHAD residents are households with children.
- Keep DuPage County beautiful - CHAD redevelops foreclosed properties under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and keeps them from becoming a source of abandonment or crime.
- The Homelessness Prevention Program at CHAD keeps current residents who are going through a difficult financial time in their home and off the streets.
- CHAD works closely with human service agencies like Bridge Communities, PADS and Catholic Charities to provide units for transitional housing.
- The new Veteran Housing Program at CHAD allows disabled US veterans to live with dignity in a home they can afford.
- CHAD works to raise public awareness and advocates for quality affordable housing in DuPage County in an effort to strengthen the government’s commitment to improving housing issues.
- Give assistance in your own backyard…CHAD has housing in 29 different communities.
- Families, seniors, people with disabilities, veterans – they all call CHAD home.
- CHAD’s property management and maintenance are excellent – there are no substandard units.
- CHAD conducts superior tenant screening and qualifying, including verification of income, credit checks, criminal background checks, and prior landlord reference checks to ensure residents are ‘good neighbors’.
